Join us in Montenegro for the inaugural Montenegro Expedition Challenge this autumn ! The first 48 hour adventure race to be held in Montenegro, this event will feature mountain biking, orienteering, rafting, kayaking, ropework, road cycling and some surprise elements. A rogaine style adventure race this event is designed to attract amateur and professional adventure racers to come and explore Montenegro's potential as a world class adventure racing destination. Covering remote and difficult terrain the event will really highlight how much of Montenegro remains undiscovered and untouched by tourism.

The location would be in the north, following the Tara Canyon, Sinjajevina Plateau before skirting the Bosnian border and the Piva Canyon to Niksic. This would give us the potential to cross over the border in future years! I would like to include, Kayaking, rafting (along the 40km ‘wilderness’ stretch of the Tara, Mountain biking, Road Biking, and ropes sections.

The 48 hour Montenegro Expedition Challenge takes place on the first weekend in October and  crosses primary forest, mountains, plateaus and Europe’s deepest canyon. Stages include rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering and high ropes. If not the World’s toughest 48 hour expedition race, this must surely be Europe’s most spectacular. The USARA will provide free entry for the US league champions as the ‘grand’ prize in the national championship. ARM is using the Expedition Challenge to launch a large mammal conservation project to protect the Lynx, Bear, Wolf, Chamois and Wild Boar in Montenegro.
