About
The XVI Paths of King Nikola is a historic road cycle race exploring Montenegro's deep canyons and high mountains.
It is an annual road cycle race on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Continental Circuit (Europe Tour), which attracts some of Europe's best road cycling teams. The winners
gain World Championship and Olympic qualifying points. Each year the
race passes through some of Montenegro´s most historic towns and over
amazing mountain passes.
History
The race is named after Montenegro’s only king, Nikola I Mirkov Petrović-Njegoš, who ruled as a prince from 1860 to 1910 before becoming king from 1910 to 1918. He was a successful
military leader and a graceful poet who fought for Montenegro’s independence for more than 50 years.
Course
To maintain the tradition of the event, the race actually starts in Serbia (Serbia and Montenegro were a state union prior to Montenegro’s independence in May 2006). The first two stages of the race take place in Serbia, before crossing over the border into Montenegro for the final 3 stages.

Stage II (April 29, 2010): Cacak to Bijelo Polje (Serbia to Montenegro)
Stage III (April 30, 2010): Bijelo Polje to Zabljak (Montenegro)
Passing through Prijepolje, Priboj, Plj and Evlja
